The purpose of washing equipment (washing and purifying systems) using energy and a dispersion agent is to remove and separate deleterious matter from the product. HEM precisely characterizes and evaluates the customer’s material at its bulk material laboratory. This provides a basis for studying the impact parameters of the washing process at the R&D Center.

To do this HEM has modern test facilities at its disposal.

• Using a ring shearing fixture, load intensity and load time for shearing can be investigated
• The high pressure washer in addition performs impact loading:

• Shearing test fixture (variation in extra load, shearing gradient, load time)
• Measuring energy application using a torque measurement shaft
• High pressure jet washer (variation of pressure, impact time)
• Measurement of deleterious material discharge (opacity measurement)

Based on acquired results, HEM then undertakes the layout of machines and facilities, and then determines the optimum process parameters.
